We all recognize that these folks go through a lot of schooling to get the right to hang out their shingle. Unfortunately the credentials speak nothing about the person.
Upon seating myself in his office I became very uncomfortable. The arrogant sneer on his face told me that this was not going to be a pleasant experience. He proceded to grill me as to my "history of drug abuse." Upon discoving that I had sown some wild oats in high school, (ten years ago) he had me completely figured out. (Did I mention the guy didn't have any of my records?) I don't think I have ever met anyone like this guy. Everything that came out of his mouth was carfully orchestrated to build himself up and bring me down. (One of those people who have to "one up" everything someone says to them.) In conclusion he told me that he could "tell by the look in my eyes that I was a drug addict" and escorted me out the door.
I saw Dr Melnyk by chance, I needed a refill for my ADHD med, and having just moved here I had not yet established care with anyone. I was on a cancellation list and a slot came open.
