Originally had a reservation with Hertz who much to my dismay doesn't accept debit cards. I walked to the next counter which was Avis and within minutes I was walking out the door with keys to a rental in hand and on my way. They put a $200 hold on my debit card (who cares, I will get it back in a few days), but the actual rental was cheaper than Hertz, so needless to say when I need a rental I will ALWAYS go with Avis. They have a lifelong customer because of this first great experience I had with them. They lady at the counter was super friendly also!!
Already paid for the rental car, no where did they say we needed a major credit card number to get the car, checked terms and conditions and everything. After this we Called customer support and they basically told us we should've checked the terms and conditions. Said they weren't going to charge a cancellation fee ended up charging us half of what we paid for the car.
This is inside the terminal of a small regional airport. It has 4 gates and two jetways. There are no crowds and no reason to rush. The Avis counter employees were pleasant and friendly and the cars are the current model year. When you drop your car off, you note the gas tank level and mileage and you bring that information and the keys back to the counter. Very simple. No crowd.
The staff is always helpful and friendly. The only thing making it a 4 out of 5 stars is the location does not have an Avis-Preferred feature to be able to go directly to the car without standing in line to register and get the keys.
Rented a car here for a road trip to NYC. Excellent value for the money.
